On Friday, 21 November 2008, Musica Mundana will take audiences on a musical journey starting from Turkey and ending in the Americas. The program will include contemporary works by Turkish as well as Argentinean and Brazilian composers.

Musica Mundana was founded by Turkish pianist Aysegül Kus Durakoglu in New York with the aim to embrace the audiences through the music of different backgrounds and promise musical voyages into the music of past, present, and future.

The members of the society have come together in various events like the Asian Music Festival at Lincoln Center, Merkin Concert Hall, Dag Hammarskjöld Hall in the United Nations, St. Peter’s concert series, Bodek Hall at the University of Pennsylvania, Niagara International Chamber Music Festival, and many others. The participating musicians are Atis Bankas, violinist; Aysegül Kus Durakoglu, artistic director and pianist; Sebnem Mekinulov, soprano; and Luke Pomorski, cellist.

CATWAO will be teaming up with Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC), a Canadian NGO that specializes in providing high quality medicines for use in the developing world. For every dollar donated, HPIC will provide up to $10 worth of medical aid to the Atatürk Children’s Hospital for treatment of some of the most vulnerable in the ongoing Afghan conflict. HPIC is supported with donations from Canada’s healthcare industry as well as from individuals and groups across Canada.
