The Global Day of Prayer movement was conceived as a vision God gave South African lay leader Graham Power in Capetown in 2001. In 2003, approximately 23 million Christians in 28 African countries united in prayer. By 2004, Christians in all 56 countries on the African continent prayed together. The grass-roots phenomenon spread from its centre of origin in South Africa to touch the world. By 2010, the movement is expected to unite 500 million people as they pray together. In 2006 in Ottawa, The Life Centre hosted a gathering of about 250. In 2008 we expect to see a significant increase in this number as we gather at Dominion-Chalmers in the heart of the city. Prior to the main event at Pentecost there will be Ten Days of Prayer which will take pace at a series of churches across our city.
